Settle Petal : Home

Don't make me use my feminist voice

SettlePetal is an online space for young feminists and our allies around Australia. It was created by the collective brain of a group of young women passionate about feminism, with the aim of furthering conversation and debate among young women around feminism and its future, and being a safe and respectful space to have those debates.

Who are these young women, we hear you ask? They’re pretty awesome, although they do say so themselves. They’re the Young Women’s Advisory Group of the Equality Rights Alliance, Australia’s largest organisational network of women’s advocates. They are from diverse backgrounds and experiences and hail from around the country, and have two things in common: a belief in gender equality and a desire to change the world.

The rules of SettlePetal are simple: play nice, feminism is not a monolithic concept and disagreements will happen, so just keep them respectful.

Contributions are welcome! If it’s about feminism or feminists or an issue that you think is related to feminism, we’re interested. Anti-feminist comment will not be accepted; neither will anything racist, homophobic, ableist or any other ist that we consider contrary to a feminist agenda.

This website was made possible thanks to funding and support from Equality Rights Alliance (ERA). ERA is Australia’s largest network of women’s advocates, bringing together 56 member organisations to advocate for women’s equality, women’s leadership and recognition of women’s diversity. Members are non government organisations and social enterprises with a focus on the impact of policy or service delivery on women

ERA is led by the YWCA Australia and is one of six National Women’s Alliances funded by the Australian Government Office for women.
